Youth Council - 30 June

The Youth Council is open to any young person aged 11-19 who lives or goes to school in the Three Rivers District, and is a great opportunity for young people in Three Rivers to have their say, discuss a wide range of topics, and really make a difference in their local community, while learning valuable decision making, debating, and organisational skills. Meetings are very friendly and relaxed, and new faces are always welcome.

The agenda for the meeting on the 30 June from 5:00pm to 7:30pm, includes the three organisations that were granted money from the Youth Council in February, which comprises of Chorleywood YMCA, Abbots Youth Football Club and Watford Mencap. Young people who are interested in attending can learn about some of the beneficiaries of the grant and find out more about how the grant money has been put to good use.  A representative from Croxfest, the local Croxley music festival, will also be talking about background of the event and how they organise the festival. In addition, a local Detective Sergeant from Hertfordshire Police will be talking about his role within the police and his investigation skills. Lastly, a speaker from the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award will be talking about the programme of activities for anyone aged 14-25, offering an individual challenges and exciting activities.

The Youth Council, which meets three times per year and each meeting, is chaired by one of the young attendees on a rotating basis and topics for discussion at each meeting are decided on by attendees.
