Pride flag raised ahead of biggest celebration of LGBTQ+ in Hertfordshire

The Pride Flag has been raised at the district council’s head office in Rickmansworth ahead of the biggest celebration of the LGBTQ+ community in Hertfordshire.
Cllr Stephen Giles-Medhurst OBE, Leader of Three Rivers District Council, Cllr Narinder Sian, Chair of the Equalities Forum, the organisers of Herts Pride, and council staff gathered at Three Rivers House to raise the Pride Flag.
Herts Pride takes place every year at Cassiobury Park in Watford and is a festival filled with music, community stalls, exhibitors and food and drink to celebrate wellbeing, inclusion, connection, resilience and sustainability.
Cllr Giles-Medhurst OBE, Leader of Three Rivers District Council, said: "We are absolutely delighted to be sponsoring Herts Pride again for the 14th year. This is a vibrant and inclusive celebration which is open to all members of the community. We are immensely grateful to all those organisations who help make the event possible every year. I am proud that Three Rivers District Council is part of that group and we look forward to welcoming the community!"
Cllr Sian added: “This year’s theme at Herts Pride is Pride and Thrive. It’s always been a great family day out, so come and join in the festivities.”
Tyson Martin, Founder and Chair of Herts Pride, said: “It is wonderful to see the Pride flag raised once again at Three Rivers District Council as we look ahead to Herts Pride this Saturday, 22 August.
“The district council has supported Herts Pride since our very first event in 2013, and that continued commitment to Hertfordshire’s LGBTQ+ communities means a great deal to us.
“Our theme for 2026 is Pride and Thrive, recognising that Pride is about more than visibility. It is about creating communities where LGBTQ+ people feel safe, supported, connected and able not simply to exist, but to thrive.
“Raising the Pride flag sends a simple but important message that LGBTQ+ people are seen, valued and belong. On behalf of everyone at Herts Pride, I would like to thank Three Rivers District Council, its councillors, staff and communities for standing with us and continuing to support Herts Pride.
“We look forward to welcoming everyone to Cassiobury Park on Saturday for Herts Pride 2026.”
