Get free blood pressure checks in Three Rivers

Three Rivers residents are being encouraged to ‘Know Your Numbers’ this September by taking advantage of free blood pressure checks.
Three Rivers District Council’s regular Healthy Hubs are hosting community health sessions offering blood pressure checks, health and wellbeing advice, and cost of living support.
As part of the national Know Your Numbers! Week, Healthy Hub Three Rivers staff will be visiting community venues across the district, making it easier for residents to access advice and practical support close to home.
The leader of the council Cllr Stephen Giles-Medhurst OBE kicked the event off by having his blood pressure checked by the Healthy Hub team.
He said: "Many people don't realise they have high blood pressure because there are often no symptoms. Our Healthy Hub sessions in the community provide an opportunity for residents to have a quick, free blood pressure check while also learning about the local services available to support their health, wellbeing.
“Whether you're looking for healthy lifestyle advice, help with the cost of living or simply want to know more about what's available in your community, we'd encourage everyone to drop in."
High blood pressure often has no symptoms but is one of the leading risk factors for heart attacks, strokes and kidney disease. In Hertfordshire, around one in four adults live with high blood pressure and it is estimated that millions of adults in the UK are living with high blood pressure without knowing it. A simple, free blood pressure check can help identify potential problems early and support people to make positive lifestyle changes or seek further medical advice if needed.
Alongside free blood pressure checks, residents will be able to speak with the Healthy Hub team about a range of health, wellbeing and financial support available locally.
Visitors can access:
- Free blood pressure checks
- Health and wellbeing advice
- Stop smoking support
- Mental health and wellbeing information
- Cost of living advice and support
- Information on local community groups and activities
- Signposting and referrals to specialist support services
The community sessions are designed to make support more accessible by bringing services into local communities, helping residents get the advice they need in familiar and convenient locations.
The Healthy Hub works with a range of local health, voluntary and community partners to provide early intervention, advice and support, helping residents stay healthier, more connected and better informed.
