Two new local nature reserves unveiled

Last week, Chorleywood House Estate and the Aquadrome in Rickmansworth were officially designated as Local Nature Reserves by Three Rivers District Council, following consultation with Natural England. The two newest reserves will bring the total number of Council owned Local Nature Reserves in the Three Rivers district to six, including Croxley Common Moor, The Withey Beds, Prestwick Road Meadows and Oxhey Woods.

Portfolio Holder for the Environment, Councillor Martin Trevett, said:

"This formal status recognises the importance of both sites for conservation of habitats and species and reflects their importance to the surrounding community. I hope that residents will enjoy exploring Three Rivers' Local Nature Reserves this summer."
