Former Chairman raises £6,500 for charity

Three local charities have received cheques following an energetic year of fundraising by the former Chairman of Three Rivers District Council in 2015-16, Councillor Eric Bishop, who raised £6,500 for his chosen charities.
Staff from Home-Start Watford & Three Rivers, Parkinson’s UK West Herts and Box Cleva have now received the cheques and reflecting on the fundraising, the past-Chairman, Councillor Bishop said: "These three charities help people in great need and it was a privilege to support them during my year of office. I am particularly pleased that we were able to raise £6,500 for my chosen causes."
Emma Power for Home-Start Watford & Three Rivers said, “Eric has been so supportive of Home-Start Watford & Three Rivers and has visited lots of services.
Bob Williams at Box Cleva said,” We’re delighted the chairman has been so proactive in raising funds, enabling us to serve the local community to the best of our best ability.” Bob went onto further explain how the Hertfordshire voluntary organisation ‘Box Cleva’, a fitness and discipline scheme for young people, has been awarded a Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, after they were nominated by Cllr Eric Bishop.
David Jones, Parkinson’s UK West Herts said “We are grateful to the Chairman for supporting the charity this year. The money he has raised will make a significant contribution to the lives of people affected by Parkinson’s.
