Businesses in Three Rivers can save money and help protect the environment by making the most of our trade recycling services.

Business waste recyclingResidents in Three Rivers are some of the best recyclers in the country, recycling 49 per cent of waste, and we are encouraging local businesses to follow suit.

We can collect cardboard, glass and now have the facilities in place to collect paper too; a welcome development for office-based businesses.

Clive Bailey, General Manager of Sandy Lodge Golf Club, says: "We already recycle cardboard and glass via the District Council's scheme and have been awaiting the addition of paper recycling. We are keen to implement this as soon as possible, in keeping with our environmental management policy."

With the recession still affecting local businesses and the charges for disposing of refuse set to increase substantially year on year, utilising our business recycling services also offers an opportunity for local companies to cut costs.

Councillor Phil Brading, Portfolio Holder for Public Services and Health, says:

"3,181 tonnes of trade waste was collected by us last year, but only 6.1per cent of that was recycled using our trade recycling services. We all know business is tough at the moment; recycling trade waste is one way to help reduce costs, with the added benefit of helping the environment."
