South Oxhey future to be decided

Kevin Snow12th April 2011

Teenagers, mums, charity volunteers, vicars and nurses were just some of the 370 people who visited the South Oxhey Open Day last Thursday (7 April).

The aim of the day was to ask residents what they thought was most important for the future development of South Oxhey, Carpenders Park and Oxhey Hall.

Resident, Sarah, said: "I think we have a great community here - we just need a bit of investment!"

Resident, Chris, added: "I think this is a great idea. The precinct could do with modernising a bit and I would like to see more housing and leisure facilities for young people."

We want to make clear that money will not be available to achieve everything and that priorities will need to be agreed with the community.

The consultation process will be undertaken over the course of 2011/12 and a report with recommendations will be available by the end of the calendar year. We want to speak to people from all sections of the South Oxhey, Carpenders Park and Oxhey Hall communities over the coming year.

An update and results from the consultation will be provided in the summer edition of Three Rivers Times (published by 15 June) and at Watford Rural Local Area Forum on 30 June at 7:30pm at Watford Rural Parish Council in Oxhey Drive.

You are welcome to keep in touch by signing up for the South Oxhey email newsletter, can see the Council's South Oxhey Facebook page or ring 01923 776611.

The day was organised by us and Watford Rural Parish Council working with advisors from Terence O'Rourke.
