The potential shake-up to local government reorganistion was raised by parish councils at the latest engagement meeting with Three Rivers District Council’s Leader.

Council Leader, Cllr Stephen Giles-Medhurst, hosted another successful engagement with parish and community councils at the authority’s head office in Rickmansworth on Monday, 2 June.

The meeting, launched by the Leader last year, is one of the ways in which the district council is working collaboratively with parishes to ensure they are fully informed.

Subjects covered at the meeting was progress on the new Local Plan - with the aim of getting it completed and submitted before the end of the municipal year - the potential local government reorganisation and how parish councils would feature in that, as well as details on Three Rivers digital media and the help it could give to the parish councils in promoting their events.

Cllr Stephen Giles-Medhurst said: “Involving, consulting, and informing our parish and community councils is, in my view, vital as they are the very heart of local democracy. They may deal with very local issues, but every issue is important to someone, and they are our helpful ears and eyes on the ground across Three Rivers. These meetings are a great way of ensuring no one gets ignored.”

The parish liaison meetings take place four times per year and are hosted at Three Rivers House, the district council’s head office, in Rickmansworth.
