New Hope Trust

New Hope, based in Watford, provides emergency accommodation for homeless people. It also provides a day centre, a night shelter and longer-term accommodation, plus a full range of support services.

New Hope can be contacted on their 24/7 emergency line: 0300 012 0168. You will then be able to speak to a member of the New Hope team who is based at the Sanctuary Night Shelter.

The charity operates an outreach service to engage with rough sleepers in TRDC and Watford. If you are concerned about the welfare and safety of someone sleeping rough in TRDC, please call New Hope: 01923 801382 or the Housing Options team on 01923776611

Open Door  

Open door provides 12 bedrooms in St Albans for homeless people.  There is support onsite to help and advice with housing, employment and welfare issues.  Click here to find out more

One YMCA

This is not a night shelter however it provides longer term accommodation for single male and females aged 18-59.

Drop in appointments Monday-Friday 9am-12pm.  Please take ID and proof of income.

Severe Cold Weather Provisions

In the event of severe cold weather we will provide emergency accommodation for rough sleepers.  Partners will be notified if our SWEP provision is activated and can refer you.  You can also self refer by calling our Housing Options team. 

Alternatively you can access the Rough Sleeping Prevention Service at the Haven Support Centre, which is open between 8:30am to 1.00pm and 1.45pm 3:30pm. Referrals can also be accessed via 0300 012 0168 (24 hour Helpline) or by presenting at Watford Police Station at Shady Lane between 8pm-10pm.
