All Saints Church Croxley Green - withdraw appeal against Noise Abatement Notice...

Appeal against Noise Abatement Notice, withdrawn by the Parochial Church Council of All Saints’ Church, Croxley Green

Three Rivers District Council have this morning received a copy of a letter from the Solicitors acting on behalf of the Parochial Church Council of All Saints’ Church, Croxley Green formally withdrawing their appeal at Watford Magistrates Court.

Since the issue of the Noise Abatement Notice by Three Rivers District Council last year on the 24 hour chiming of the church clock, officers have been working closely with All Saints’ Church to resolve the situation in a mutually beneficial way.

Steven Halls, Chief Executive of Three Rivers District Council said:

"It would have been unlawful for us not to act on the original complaint made by a resident.  Not to have proceeded to the issue of a Noise Abatement Notice could have led to the council being fined for mal-administration by the Local Government Ombudsman.   It is a difficult path to tread to ensure that our residents’ needs are met, whilst continuing the cultural traditions of the area.

"We are glad that the Church has found a resolution that will satisfy both their parishioners and the local resident who made the complaint".

Three Rivers District Council have waived all their costs incurred in the raising and withdrawal of this appeal.
