The chain of office was formally passed to the newly elected Chair of Three Rivers District Council at the Annual Council meeting on Tuesday night (24 May).
Cllr Debbie Morris takes over as Chair of the council from Cllr Keith Martin who served two consecutive terms owing to the Covid pandemic. The Chair’s consort is her husband, Andrew Morris. The Chair’s role is a-political, presiding over Full Council meetings and officially representing the council at public engagements.
Cllr Morris said: “I am honoured to have been elected Chair of the district council, taking the reins from Cllr Martin who served the council and the district so well during his tenure, when the council’s activities were greatly curtailed by the Covid pandemic. I look forward with enormous enthusiasm to the year ahead – to working with many people and organisations across this district, and to representing the council with great pride."
Cllr Morris will be supporting Pets As Therapy as her chosen charity during her year in office, with the aim of not only fundraising but also boosting the charity’s profile to increase volunteer numbers. She joined the council in 2014 and represents the Moor Park & Eastbury ward where she has lived for the past 30 years.

The newly elected Vice-Chair of the council is Cllr Kate Turner.
