Transfer a Premises Licence
A transfer application must be made immediately if the premises licence holder changes. The new owner must transfer the licence into their name before they can operate.
They can request that a transfer application have immediate effect so that they can start operating the business as soon as we receive the application.
There will however be 14 days (from the day after we receive the application) in which the Police or the Home Office (Immigration Enforcement) can make a representation.
If no representation is received, the application will be granted and the new amended licence will be issued. If a representation is received we will contact the applicant about this.

The consent form must accompany a transfer application.
Will tacit consent apply?
Yes, tacit consent will apply.
This means that you will be able to act as though your application is granted if you have not heard from the Council by the end of the target period.
At the end of the consultation period if no representations are received the licence will be granted and issued within further 2 weeks. The consultation period is 14 days from the day after the application is received.
If representations are received a hearing will be held with 20 working days of the end of the consultation.
A decision notice will be sent within 20 working days of the determination.
