Full Time, Permanent

Three Rivers is a beautiful predominantly rural district in South East Hertfordshire.

We are now seeking to recruit to this role within the council’s leadership team. This role will report to the Chief Executive and will be part of a team responsible for ensuring the organisation delivers for the communities of the district and succeeds on the ambition of our members as set out in our Corporate Framework and Action plan.

We are looking for suitably qualified candidates with considerable experience of working in local authority environment. As a skilled and experienced local government legal professional, you’ll be involved in a wide variety of interesting work. This role will directly manage the Legal and Committee Services team.

However, over and above your legal knowledge and management experience, you will have a natural ability to lead cultural change and develop excellent relationships with Senior Officers, members and partners.

As the council’s statutory Monitoring Officer, you will be ultimately responsible for legal soundness and good governance in accordance with the constitution. We are looking for a politically astute individual with a strong track record of practical action and service achievement, particularly in a post- Covid era.

This role will offer remote working, although there is an expectation of physical presence in Rickmanworth on weekly basis. We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from anyone with the ability to do the job.

Salary £71,962 to £79,969 benefits include Local Government pension scheme, generous annual leave, flexible working arrangements and many staff discounts.

A basic DBS check will be carried out for this post.

This post is politically restricted.

For an informal discussion about the post, contact Jo Wagstaffe, Chief Executive on 01923776611.
