Senior News and Communications Officer

Three Rivers District in South West Hertfordshire straddles the north west corner of the M25 on the edge of Greater London. The district is a mixture of beautiful countryside, villages and small towns. The area has a diverse range of sectors and businesses and is a centre for the film industry with Warner Brothers at Leavesden forming part of a studio cluster along with Elstree and Pinewood is a short drive away.

The Department:
Communications & Digital Services sits within the Customer Experience Service, which is made up of Communications & Digital Services, the Customer Service Centre and Watersmeet Theatre.

The Role:
A key member of the Communications & Digital Services team, working across the full breadth of communications activities and channels. The role contributes to supporting effective communication and
engagement with stakeholders (both internal and external). This will be achieved through multi-media storytelling across a number of platforms. The role will involve writing copy, drafting press releases and creating and editing video content to promote the council's messages, as well as responding to media enquiries as they arise. To work with all services to identify news stories to promote the Council’s activities and events. The role will involve hybrid working including at least one day per week in the office at Three Rivers House, and the attendance at events and meetings as required, some of which may be in evenings and weekends.

What we are looking for:-
An experienced communications specialist with a background in communications, media or journalism, and a talent for identifying and creating news stories. Someone able to build and maintain relationships, and work closely and collaboratively with council services and staff.
