Background and role description:
Three Rivers District Council is looking to appoint four Independent Remuneration Panel members to advise the Council on its allowance scheme for Members.
The panel will make recommendations on the level of Councillors’ basic, special responsibility, childcare and dependent allowances, as well as looking at what
duties travel and subsistence allowances should apply.
The role will require applicants to have sound judgement and decision making skills, whilst remaining impartial and objective. This is an opportunity to have an input on the decisions determining the
remuneration Councillors receive for their work to public services.
Panel members must consider the responsibility and varying demands upon Councillor time in order to produce a scheme which fairly and equitably compensates them, whilst also being easy to
administer.
Successful applicants will be part of a panel of four.
You must live and/or work in the Three Rivers District and will not be an active member of a political party or employed by the Council or one of its contractors.
A working knowledge of local government or public service organisation is also desirable, but not essential.
