Independent Remuneration Panel Member

Part time, ad hoc

Closing date for applications: Friday 21 September 2018

Location: Three Rivers House Northway Rickmansworth

The position is voluntary, but a small allowance will be made.

Background and role description: TRDC is looking to appoint an Independent Remuneration Panel member to join the other three members on the Panel.  The Panel’s role is to advise the Council on its allowance scheme for Members.  The Panel will make recommendations on the level of Councillors’ basic, special responsibility, childcare and dependent allowances, as well as looking at what duties travel and subsistence allowances should apply.

If you have a keen interest in public life and wish to serve your local community, then this may be the position for you. The role will require applicants to have sound judgement and decision making skills, whilst remaining impartial and objective. This is an opportunity to have an input on the decision determining what remuneration Councillors receive for their work to public services.

As a Panel Member you must consider the responsibility and varying demands upon Councillor time in order to come up with a scheme which fairly and equitably compensates them, whilst also being easy to administer.

You must live and/or work in the Three Rivers District and will not be an active member of a political party or employed by the Council or one of its contractors. A working knowledge of Local Government or public service organisation is also desirable, but not essential.

If you would like to apply for this role please forward a copy of your CV together with a covering letter to Sarah Haythorpe either by email: or by post to: Committee Department, Three Rivers District Council, Three Rivers House, Northway, Rickmansworth, WD3 1RL.  For further information please contact Sarah Haythorpe on 01923 776611.
