J9 Initiative

J9 is an initiative being run through Herts Sunflower to establish a network of “Community Champions”. This is a community initiative to create safe spaces within local businesses for people who are experiencing domestic abuse. The J9 sunflower logo above displayed on a window will indicate that the business/service is a safe place to receive information on the support available to them, to take the time to go through and process this information and use the telephone. Domestic Abuse awareness training to support your community

Herts Sunflower provides a number of J9 Champion training opportunities throughout the year. Training will be for those who would like to become a J9 Champion or indeed who already are, but would like a refresher.

Two types of champion are catered for in the training sessions:

Community Championscan be anyone amongst local business and services who comes into contact with the public regardless of their job role. This is our ‘help on the high street’ approach.

Lead Champions: support the community champions and wider colleagues within their organisation and across the champions’
network, by giving enhanced practical help and support when needed. Training for Lead Champions will consist of the initial community training and then further ‘lead training’ in a workplace based approach
