Electoral Canvassers Required

Electoral Services are now recruiting for canvassing staff to assist in producing the electoral register.

During the annual canvass, electoral enquiry forms are sent to each property within the borough. In subsequent months we send reminders to any property that we have not had a response from.

Canvassers are employed throughout the district to call on residents who have not returned either their household or individual registration form, and to assist residents with completing these forms.

This is temporary part time work for approximately six weeks.

Applicants must be available from the whole of October. It is expected that most of your visits will be conducted during the evenings and weekends when most residents are at home. This work can be done in your spare time, alongside a full-time job.

Canvassers are required to have:

  • good communication skills and the ability to relate to people
  • able to meet strict deadlines and work on own initiative
  • a commitment to equality and diversity
  • a professional and politically neutral manner

Applications are welcome from council staff, contractors or friends and family. 

Previous experience is not essential as training will be provided.
