Elections Staff Required (Temporary)

Three Rivers Electoral Services are now recruiting staff to work at the Combined County, District and Police & Crime Commissioner elections taking place on Thursday 6 May 2021.

Eligibility

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age to work at a polling station and 16 to work at the count.

You must be entitled to work in the UK (in accordance with the provisions of the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996).

If you are not employed by Three Rivers Council and successful you will need to provide your National Insurance number, and either a copy of your passport or relevant supporting information which confirms you are entitled to work in the UK before taking up your appointment.

If you are registered unemployed, you are advised to consult your local employment benefits office before you accept any offer of employment we may make to you.

You cannot work on behalf of a candidate or political party at these elections, or be related to a candidate.

Staff must consent to working in excess of the normal working hours provided for by the working time directive.

Important Information Covid-19

We ask that you only apply for election roles if you would be prepared to work under any of the Covid Alert Tiers or if we are in a Lockdown scenario where the running of an Election is permitted.

The Elections Team are making plans to protect Polling Station Staff, Count Staff & Voters in the Elections being held in May 2021.

Jobs and fees payable are as follows:

Polling Stations – Thursday 6 May 2021:

Polling Station Inspectors = £320.00 Presiding Officers = £310.00 Poll Clerks = £200.00

Verification & Count – Friday 7 May, Saturday 8 May and Monday 10 May 2021 (day-time):

Verification & Count Supervisors = £150.00      Verification & Count Assistants = £100.00

Postal Vote Opening – Monday 26 April to Thursday 6 May 2021 (day-time)

Postal Vote Supervisor = £17.50 per hour         Postal Vote Assistant = £11.00 per hour

Fees are gross and inclusive of travel (except Polling Station Inspectors) and training where required.

Job descriptions of each role along with an application form are attached.

Applications are welcome from council staff, contractors, as well as friends and family members.

Previous experience is not essential for all roles as training will be provided (where relevant).

Please note if you have worked for us at previous elections we will write to you to invite you to apply for any of the roles available, however, if you have moved since you last worked for us please complete and submit a new starter form.
