National Planning Policy Guidance states that where a Local Planning Authority has issued a decision statement detailing its intention to send a neighbourhood plan to referendum, that plan can be given significant weight in decision-making, so far as the plan is material to the application. Therefore, following the publication of this decision statement on 21 October 2020, the Chorleywood Neighbourhood Plan can be given significant weight in determining planning applications where the plan is material to the application.

A referendum on the Chorleywood Neighbourhood Development Plan will take place on 6 May 2021.

Information for Voters (pdf)

Neighbourhood Planning Referendums are conducted in accordance with procedures which are similar to those used at local government elections. Voters living in the Chorleywood Neighbourhood Area will receive a poll card similar to those used at elections and this will provide details of when and where they can vote on the Chorleywood Neighbourhood Plan.

If more than 50% of people voting in the referendum support the Neighbourhood Plan, the Chorleywood Neighbourhood Plan would then become part of the Development Plan and Three Rivers District Council would have to use the Neighbourhood Plan to help to decide planning applications in Chorleywood Parish Area.

Further information and documentation relating to the Chorleywood Neighbourhood Development Plan and its examination can be viewed below in the Examination section.

In February 2020 Chorleywood Parish Council formally submitted the draft Chorleywood Neighbourhood Plan and supporting documents to the District Council.
