Todd Carty is starring in this year’s panto playing Captain Hook in Peter Pan at Watersmeet, Rickmansworth. This is his favourite role to date as he is thoroughly enjoying dressing up and playing yet another baddie!

As a child, Todd loved going to the cinema with his mum every Saturday to see the sixpence films. He thoroughly enjoyed seeing child actors on the screen so much that his mum sent him to drama classes.

From the age of four years, he started his career starring in television commercials. He has appeared in hundreds of advertisements and still remembers the line from the Woolworth’s one “Here’s you change mummy.”

He first appeared on our TV screens playing the unforgettable Tucker Jenkins in the long-running BBC drama Grange Hill. He grew up on-screen, got used to fame and went on to become a household name playing Mark Fowler in EastEnders.

In his spare time, he enjoys interacting with his two sons and watching them growing up. He says life is too short for getting bored and he can’t get over how lucky he has been in his professional and personal life. Laughter excites him and he wishes for continued happiness for the future doing things he wants to do both professionally and with his family. Watching his sons go from strength to strength is the icing on the cake.

“The worst bit about being an actor is that your life changes forever”, said Todd. “However, as I get older, life becomes nicer and easier thanks to wise financial decisions made by my mum when I was young. She never spoilt me and taught me the value of life and money.”

His favourite actors from childhood to date are Clint Eastwood, James Cagney, Margaret Rutherford and Robert Donat. He still enjoys watching black and white movies, especially on rainy days!

Todd has been married to Dina Clarkin (actress/writer and film producer) his childhood sweetheart, since 1990. They own a film production company, Swordfish Productions. Carty directed his first feature film, The Perfect Burger made with the Co-operative British Youth Film Academy.

Son, brother, husband, father, uncle, actor, director who has even tried his hand at dancing! Who can forget his unforgettable entrance in the 2009 series of Dancing on Ice? Todd has acted on stage, done radio plays, commercials, voiceovers, pantos and narrations!
