Remembrance events across Three Rivers 2026

Poppy wreaths will be laid across Three Rivers district on Remembrance Sunday (8 November) to commemorate the service and sacrifice of military personnel involved in conflicts since the First World War.
Councillors from all political groups will be representing Three Rivers District Council at services across the district, including Cllr Stephen Giles-Medhurst OBE, the council Leader, who will attend St Lawrence Church, Abbots Langley, and the council Chair, Cllr Keith Martin, who will attend a service at St Mary's Church, Rickmansworth.
Remembrance events will kick-off on Saturday 7 November when the Oxhey Jets face the Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment football team for a special afternoon of football and remembrance.
The match honours all those who have lost in war, and particularly Private Thomas Lake, from Northwood, who was killed in action while patrolling the Jamal Kowi area of the Nahr-e Saraj district of central Helmand in November 2011. The former Oxhey Jets player has been remembered annually at the team’s poppy matches, which raise money for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal. The remembrance ceremony is at 2.30pm and kick-off is at 3pm.
