Warm in Winter gift bags help older residents stay warm

As the temperatures dip and heating costs remain high, bags of useful items are being given out help older people stay warm this winter.
Three Rivers District Council is distributing the Warm in Winter gift bags to residents aged 55 and over who are struggling to keep warm. The council will distribute bags through its offices and Healthy Hubs to vulnerable residents aged 55 and over in Three Rivers who are struggling to keep warm at home this winter.
The bags are being provided in partnership with local charity Small Acts of Kindness. Each bag contains practical items, including a fleece blanket, thermal hat and gloves, hot drinks, soup and porridge, as well as an information pack covering available support and local activities.
Cllr Steve Drury, Lead Member for Community Engagement, Public Safety & Housing, said: “We are proud to once again distribute Small Acts of Kindness Warm in Winter bags. We know how much they mean to the people who receive them and the difference they make in our community.
“Alongside the bags, we are also distributing Purple Pages information packs this year. These will help older and vulnerable residents who may not struggle to keep warm but are not digitally connected to find and access the services and support available to them.
“If you, or someone you know, are aged 55 or over and struggling to keep warm at home this winter, please collect a bag from the council offices or one of our Healthy Hubs.”
