Three Rivers Free Kerbside Textiles Collection

Updated: 15 April 2019

Three Rivers District Council is running a trial of collecting textiles from the kerbside, free of charge.

Three Rivers District Council is running a trial of collecting textiles from the kerbside, free of charge.

The trial commences today, 15 April 2019, and aims to ensure textiles are not being disposed of in the refuse bin but instead will be recycled or reused when possible.

Items collected include clothes, paired shoes, belts, handbags, curtains, towels and bed linen. Please make sure that items are left outside and are accessible for collection.

Dr Steven Halls, Chief Executive, said: “We are pleased to be able to offer this free trial to residents, as approximately 7000 tonnes of textiles are thrown into landfill each year in Hertfordshire.

“As well as the textiles banks we have around the district, and the Household Waste Recycling Centres which accept textiles, this trial gives residents another route to have their unwanted clothes, shoes and other items recycled.”
