Let’s get cheeky at Hertfordshire’s LGBTQ Plus celebration event

NewsUpdated: 29 July 2025Community and living

Prepared to get cheeky with pop stars ‘The Cheeky Girls’ at this year’s annual celebration of the LGBTQ Plus Community in Hertfordshire.

Now in its thirteenth year, Herts Pride, which Three Rivers District Council is one of the sponsors of, is taking place on Saturday 30 August at Cassiobury Park in Watford, from midday to 10pm, for a fun day filled with different types of activities.

This year’s theme, #connections, highlights the importance of unity, togetherness, and the joy of being your true self.

Along with various stalls and a funfair, a line-up of amazing live acts will keep the crowd entertained on the main stage throughout the day and will be hosted by drag royalty Stephanie Von Clitz and pop performer Allan Jay. Headlining will be 90s music icons The Cheeky Girls with performances from Boy Gorgeous, Tiger Jazz and many more.

Dog lovers will be thrilled with the return of the highly popular Herts Pride Dog Show. Three Rivers District Council will also be present with a stall providing information on its services and initiatives.

Tyson Martin, Chair and Founder of Herts Pride, said: “Whether you’re LGBTQ Plus, a proud ally, or just someone who believes in love and unity, you’re welcome at Herts Pride. This is your space, your celebration, your community. Come and connect with us in the most joyful way possible with music, colour, pride… and maybe a few wagging tails.”

Cllr Stephen Giles-Medhurst, Leader of Three Rivers District Council, said: “As always, I am very pleased and proud that we, as a council, continue to sponsor Herts Pride, which shows our never-ending support to the LGBTQ Plus Community and ensuring our wonderful district remains welcoming to everyone, no matter their sexuality, gender or race.

“This year’s theme is ‘connections’ – and as we all stand together in defence of LGBTQ Plus rights, the theme of connections seems more fitting than ever.

“Herts Pride keeps getting bigger, more united and inclusive. It is a wonderful opportunity for people to come together, enjoy fantastic entertainment, and support one another in a welcoming environment.

“It’s great to have the freedom to have such events when some countries have sadly banned pride events. I look forward to seeing everyone there for a day of joy, solidarity, and celebration."
