The district council’s next move on its key planning document was discussed at the latest parish engagement meeting.

Representatives from parish and community councils across Three Rivers were welcomed by Cllr Stephen Giles-Medhurst OBE, Leader of the District Council, at his latest engagement session at the district authority’s head office in Rickmansworth on Monday, 23 March.

The representatives were told about the government’s intervention on Three Rivers District Council’s Local Plan - a document that guides decisions on future development proposals for new homes and associated infrastructure and employment in Three Rivers – and what that means for the area. They were also told the Leader has requested a meeting with the government to discuss the issue further.

Another topic discussed was the latest on Local Government Reorganisation in Hertfordshire – with the government’s public consultation on the matter closing on Thursday 26 March.

The parish liaison meetings, launched by the Leader about two years ago, are one of the ways in which the district council is working collaboratively with parishes to ensure they are fully informed.

Cllr Giles-Medhurst said: “Our Local Plan was supported by the parish councils, and so, like me, they are very disappointed with the government’s decision to intervene. I will, of course, express their views as and when a meeting with the Minister takes place.”
