Leaders, Chairs & Chief Execs honoured at board unveiling

An honours board commemorating the past and present leaders, chairs and chief executives of Three Rivers District Council has been unveiled.
The oak honours board has been personally presented to the council by current leader Cllr Stephen Giles-Medhurst OBE. Ahead of the district council’s full council meeting last night (Tuesday), members joined Cllr Giles-Medhurst, and the Chair, Cllr Stephen King, in the Penn Chamber to honour all of those who served since the local authority’s creation in 1974.
Like other district authorities across the country, Three Rivers marked its 50th anniversary last year.
Cllr Giles-Medhurst said: “I have personally gifted the honours board to the council following its milestone anniversary last year, and for posterity as we head towards Local Government Reorganisation.
“I am delighted that we came together to remember those who served this council for the interests of our residents, visitors and businesses. Three Rivers may soon not exist in the next few years due to Local Government Reorganisation, but its spirit and the people who made it a great place to live, work and to visit over the decades will live on.”
The new honours board joins other historic boards in the council’s headquarters at Three Rivers House, in Rickmansworth, including Rickmansworth Urban District and Chorleywood Urban District which commemorate councillors who served on the councils which preceded the current district council until 1974.
