Have your say on plan to protect and enhance two Croxley green spaces
Views are being sought on a plan that explores how to manage and strengthen two pieces of green space in Croxley Green for wildlife and local community.
Three Rivers District Council is asking residents for feedback on its five-year draft management plan for The Green and Stones Orchard.
The plan outlines the district council’s and Croxley Green Parish Council’s management responsibilities for the orchard and The Green and explores opportunities to protect and enhance the sites for the wildlife while preserving the local heritage and educating the community about its rich history.
It also includes an action plan, such as regular maintenance on grass cutting and hedgerow management and, subject to funding, orchard planting and investigating the possibility of pond/wetland creation.
Cllr Jon Tankard, Lead Member for Climate Change and Sustainability, said: “The Green and the Stones Orchard are well-loved spaces where wildlife can thrive and be enjoyed by the community and visitors.
“Both sites serve as community hubs for residents and visitors to enjoy dog walking, sport activities and picnics – with The Green hosting Croxley Revels, the traditional midsummer fair that has been enjoyed for more than 100 years.
“As landowners of the two sites, it is vital that we take great care of them with the parish council to ensure we reach a balance as places for wildlife to thrive and continue to be enjoyed by our community. Whether you agree with our approach to managing the two sites or think you have an idea that best enhances or preserves the sites, please feed your views on our draft plan today.”
Residents have until Thursday 11 September to have their say. Click here to view the consultation.
