Garden waste collected from local homes has been turned into organic compost and is now being made available free for collection.

Residents can collect up to two bags per household of the 100% organic compost. The compost has been produced from garden waste collected from homes across Hertfordshire and donated by Severn Trent Green Power .

The annual compost giveaway - which has not happened for the past two years due to the pandemic - is back as a gesture of thanks to people for recycling their garden waste, while also encouraging gardening enthusiasts to use sustainably produced local compost.

Ray Figg, Three Rivers District Council’s Head of Community Services, said: “We’re grateful to Severn Trent Green Power for their annual donation of compost. This green waste has gone full circle, from the gardens of residents to nutrient rich organic compost which can be returned to people’s gardens as the get busy feeding their plants this spring.”

Three Rivers District Council’s garden compost giveaway will take place at Rickmansworth Aquadrome on Wednesday 6 April from 9.30am – 2pm or until compost runs out. Residents must bring their own bags to fill.
