Eligible businesses in Three Rivers have a chance to reduce energy bills and carbon emissions thanks to a new scheme.
Three Rivers District Council’s Solar PV and Battery Grants offer small and medium-sized businesses the chance to apply for up to £3,000 to support the cost of installing solar panels and/or a battery system to their commercial premises.
The council has launched the scheme to help more local businesses improve their energy efficiency and reduce their carbon emissions by part-funding the installation of solar panels and/or battery systems.
It follows the success of last year’s Business Energy Efficiency Grant, supported by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
Businesses can apply online from 25 February 2026 until 31 December 2026. Funding will be distributed on a first-come-first-served basis.
Cllr Jon Tankard, Lead Member for Sustainability and Climate Change, said: “This grant is about giving local businesses practical support to invest in long-term sustainable solutions to reduce their energy costs, improve their financial resilience against energy price shocks and cut carbon emissions. I urge local businesses to apply for this grant today.”
Ten businesses improved their energy efficiency from last year’s grant – with one local business encouraging others to take advantage of the grant, saying: “Receiving the grant allowed us to install solar panels over our office which has significantly reduced our energy bills and reliance on grid electricity.
“Installing them has also enhanced our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint. With the assistance of the grant, this has meant significant savings for us as a small local business, and we would highly recommend other businesses to upgrade their energy efficiency.”
Energy use by businesses and industry in Three Rivers accounts for 17% of the district’s total emissions, making it a key area for energy efficiency improvements.
