Cycle hire scheme to come to more areas in Three Rivers after successful launch

A successful cycle hiring scheme is set to be expanded to more parts of the district, enabling more residents to travel sustainably.
New e-bikes from bike share operator Beryl Bikes will be coming to Rickmansworth, Leavesden and South Oxhey after the scheme was piloted in Croxley Green and was proven to be a success.
Following agreement by councillors sitting on the General Public Services and Community Engagement Committee on Tuesday 14 October, 36 new e-bikes could be supplied with 13 new bays installed in areas such as near the Aquadrome in Rickmansworth, Leavesden Country Park and Carpenders Park Station.
The expansion was made in agreement with Three Rivers District Council and Watford Borough Council. Final decisions on how the scheme will be funded are to be determined shortly.
Cllr Stephen Giles-Medhurst OBE, Leader of Three Rivers District Council, said: “I have always hoped that we could expand the Beryl Bike scheme since it launched in Croxley Green last year – with it reaching 1,000 rides in just two months. I am delighted to say that the pilot has been a huge hit with residents and soon riders can easily access a Beryl Bike in Leavesden, South Oxhey and Rickmansworth, enabling more and more people to leave their private vehicles and travel sustainably for short journeys.
“I hope we can have a shared bike scheme across Three Rivers in the near future, so all of our residents, no matter where they live and work in our area, have easy access to a bike and feel the physical and mental health benefits from this fantastic scheme.”
