Arts on prescription

Stress, anxiety and other circumstances that influence our health and wellbeing, affect all of us. Arts on Prescription offers a creative approach, to help you feel empowered and more confident in managing these issues.

Who is this group for and can I join?

It's for adults aged 18+ with mild to moderate mental health issues and/or poor wellbeing.

This is non-clinical activity run in a community setting. It is not art therapy, but instead a supportive environment for people to explore creativity and build confidence within a small group.

It's not open to general bookings- participation is through a referral only, made by a healthcare professional (see further information below)

How can it help me?

Increasing evidence and studies show that the arts have an important contribution to make to health and wellbeing. This was highlighted through the pandemic, with more people enjoying and feeling the benefits of taking part in a creative activity. It can...

  • Help boost your self esteem and confidence
  • Help you to relax and give you something positive to focus on
  • Help you uncover or rediscover skills and interests
  • Help you to feel included, valued and less socially isolated

Arts on Prescription projects have been running across Three Rivers since 2017. We have worked with a number of experienced artists in a variety of media - Photography, Creative Writing, Mixed Media, Journaling and Mosaic.
Many people continue to attend our other mainstream activities after Arts on Prescription, such as Be Creative arts classes.
