Environmental Champions Award 2026
Three Rivers District Council’s Environmental Champions Award aims to recognise and celebrate local individuals, organisations, and groups that have demonstrated outstanding environmental action and leadership within the district.
The Environmental Champions Award has four categories:
- Young Environmental Champion – for young people under the age of 18 who live in Three Rivers.
- Adult Environmental Champion – for individual adults (aged 18 or over) who live in Three Rivers.
- Community Environmental Champion – for community groups or organisations located in Three Rivers, including community groups, clubs, societies, schools, and charities.
- Business Environmental Champion – for businesses located in Three Rivers.
Any actions or initiatives that contribute to making Three Rivers district a greener, more sustainable and climate resilient place may be eligible for an award. Examples include (but are not limited to):
- Protecting and enhancing local nature
- Reducing waste and improving re-use, repair and recycling
- Reducing carbon emissions
- Improving energy efficiency
- Installing renewable energy technologies e.g. solar panels
- Supporting the uptake of active travel locally
- Local food growing and community gardens
- Educating others about sustainability or environmental issues
Award winners will receive a prize and public recognition at an awards ceremony at the council’s Great Big Green Week event on 11 June 2026.
Awards Process
Applications will be evaluated and shortlisted by a small group of relevant council officers, and winners will subsequently be selected by an independent panel of judges from local community and environmental organisations.
Awards will be granted on individual merit. The decision of the independent judging panel is final.
