The Environmental Protection Team at Three Rivers District Council is one of only four public sector bodies to receive an award in the Letsrecycle.com annual waste prevention scheme awards.

Three Rivers’ recycling rate is currently 64% of all waste collected annually, and puts the district in the top 5% in the country.

Cllr Phil Brading, portfolio holder for Public Services and Health and Deputy Leader of the Council said:

“This is a great reward for our Environmental Protection team.  They work hard to ensure that all waste is kept to a minimum in the district.  In light of the recent figures showing that in Britain we throw away up to 50% of our food, I cannot praise out team highly enough but we can only achieve these results with the help and co-operation of the residents of Three Rivers”.

The environmental protection team at Three Rivers District Council were awarded a silver medal in recognition of their achievements in waste prevention, reuse, recycling and energy recovery and will be invited to the annual recognition luncheon at Coombe Abbey Hotel in Warwickshire, funded by Letsrecycle.com.
