Residents can have their say on potential changes to a parish council and a nearby boundary.

Three Rivers District Council has launched a Community Governance Review consultation at the request of Chorleywood Parish Council, which will review if the unparished areas of Heronsgate and Loudwater should be absorbed into another parish boundary, have its own parish council or be left in situ.

It will also consider whether neighbouring Chorleywood Parish Council, which requested the review, can absorb the unparished area within its boundary and if the number of parish councillors should increase or decrease.

If changes are made to the boundary, elections for Chorleywood Parish Council could potentially be deferred to 2027 so that it can be undertaken at the same time as all other parish councils in the district.

Joanne Wagstaffe, Chief Executive of Three Rivers District Council, said: “Parish councils are the backbone for local democracy and provide a vital link between residents and the district council.

“No decisions have been made yet, and there is no assumption that the current arrangements will change. The community governance review is to see if there is an appetite from residents, the parish council and stakeholders for a change that best reflect the local communities within Chorleywood, Heronsgate and Loudwater.”

The consultation is open until 8 December 2025 and can be found here.
