Rebate scheme still available to help households with rising energy costs

Updated: 14 July 2022

A total of 13,387 households in Three Rivers have now received a £150 energy rebate to help ease the pressure of increased energy bills.

A total of 13,387 households in Three Rivers have now received a £150 energy rebate to help ease the pressure of increased energy bills.

The total represents 70% of households which are eligible for the national rebate scheme which is available to most households in council tax bands A to D.

But this means 6,000 households have not yet applied for the grant and are missing out on help to help pay towards rising energy costs.

Cllr Sarah Nelmes, Leader of Three Rivers District Council, urged eligible households to submit an application before the deadline of 31 August.

She said: “The past three years have been very difficult, and now households are facing the challenge of rising energy costs and an increasing cost of living. So I urge eligible residents who have not yet done so to apply to the rebate scheme for support with these financial pressures at a time when help is most needed.”

Drop in sessions are being held across the district on 20 July to support residents who have not yet applied for the £150 rebate. No appointment is necessary and council staff will be on hand to help residents complete their online applications.
