Development Report No. 1 – July 2018
Background
Bury Lake Young Mariners is developing new storage, changing and club house facilities for all water based users of bury lake at their extended site in the Rickmansworth Aquadrome, the work is being undertaken in two phases with the first phase including the creation of a new changing room block and a new boathouse with workshop, this first phase is fully funded, efforts continue to raise funds for phase two.
The task associated with construction is anticipated at taking nine months, following this three months will be allocated to fit out and external landscaping activity.
July 2018 Update
Construction on phase one commenced on the 4th of June, with the site mobilisation by the construction company, this was soon followed by ditch diversionary works, foundation excavations and the placement of the piling matt. The piling matt provides stability for the piling rigs and prevents such heavy plant from slipping in to the ground, especially important considering the proximity of the lake and the high water table. The piling rigs will be used to drive steel tubes down in to the ground to establish a firm footing in to the chalk strata some fifteen meters below the surface on to which the foundation slab will be placed.
