The Pride flag has been raised over the headquarters of Three Rivers District Council this week ahead of the biggest celebration of the LGBTQ+ community in Hertfordshire.

Members of Three Rivers District Council, Hertfordshire Police and the Herts Pride organisers raised the flag at Three Rivers House, Rickmansworth, as a display of the council's ongoing commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equality, ahead of the upcoming Herts Pride event.

Cllr Stephen King, Chair of Three Rivers District Council, said: “I am delighted to raise the flag over Three Rivers House to show the council’s on-going support of this great event, and to welcome all the visitors from near and far who will come in the coming days to be part of Herts Pride.”

Tyson Martin, Chair and Founder of Herts Pride, said: “Both the original rainbow flag and the Progress Pride flag are valid symbols of our community. The rainbow flag represents unity, visibility, and pride, while the Progress Pride flag acknowledges our diversity and the continuing journey toward equality. Together, they reflect our history and our future”

Now in its thirteenth year, Herts Pride, which Three Rivers District Council is one of the sponsors of, is taking place on Saturday 30 August at Cassiobury Park in Watford, from midday to 10pm, for a fun day filled with different types of activities.

This year’s theme, #connections, highlights the importance of unity, togetherness, and the joy of being your true self.

Along with various stalls and a funfair, a line-up of amazing live acts will keep the crowd entertained on the main stage throughout the day and will be hosted by drag royalty Stephanie Von Clitz and pop performer Allan Jay. Headlining will be 90s music icons The Cheeky Girls with performances from Boy Gorgeous, Tiger Jazz and many more.
