The much-anticipated refurbishment of a well-loved play area in Rickmansworth has been completed in time for the summer holidays.

Three Rivers District Council’s contractor, The School Renovation Company, has successfully completed the revamp of the Ebury Play Area by Riverside Drive on Monday 6 July - two days earlier than originally estimated for children and families to enjoy.

While children are swinging on the new swings, going down on the large slide, having fun in the play hut, climbing the ropes of the wooden hilltop tower, balancing on the balance log, playing hide and seek in the riverbank hut, crawling through the tunnels or spinning on the spinning dish, families can watch from the new comfortable picnic benches and seating area.

The new play equipment, seating and structures have natural features to fit in the habitats close by the play area. New landscaping has also been undertaken that provides new habitats for the local wildlife.

Cllr Chris Lloyd, Lead Member for Leisure, said: “I am absolutely delighted that the improved and well-loved Ebury Play Area is now open to all children and families just itching to play on the brand-new equipment in time for the summer holidays.

“I am especially pleased with our contractor and officers in getting the work done as quickly as possible. They have done a thorough job, and I thank them very much for all their efforts,

“While it’s disappointing it has taken so long for the play area to open, I hope now we can put that all behind us and enjoy the improved Ebury Play Area going forward.”
