A successful event championing disability inclusivity in the workplace has taken place as part of National Inclusion Week, at Warner Bros. Studio Tour London - The Making of Harry Potter.

The Disability Confident: Embracing Diversity in the Workplace event, hosted by Three Rivers District Council in partnership with the Watford Chamber of Commerce , Three Rivers Chamber of Trade and Commerce, and the Department for Work & Pensions (DWP), successfully brought together employers from various sectors to explore the benefits of embracing diversity. More than fifty attendees heard from industry experts from Sunnyside Rural Trust, Step to Skills, Hertfordshire County Council, the Department for Work and Pensions, and Mission Employable.

Cllr Andrew Scarth, Lead Member for Community Safety and Partnerships, spoke on the importance of the initiative. He said: “Creating inclusive workplaces is not just the right thing to do, it’s also good for business. This event has shown how becoming disability confident can unlock the potential of all employees, leading to stronger, more resilient organisations.

“The council and its partners are already looking forward to future initiatives aimed at fostering workplaces where everyone, regardless of ability, can thrive.”

The event, which took place on 24 September, wrapped up with a networking session, offering attendees the opportunity to engage with speakers and gain practical advice on implementing disability-confident practices.

Three Rivers District Council is currently working towards Disability Confident Leader accreditation.
