As remediation works at Ebury Play Area continue at pace, residents are advised to plan ahead as the Aquadrome Bridge will be required to be closed for up to two weeks.

Three Rivers District Council’s contractors are working to safely remove the Japanese Knotweed and other invasive weeds as well as implement new landscaping at the site by Riverside Drive in Rickmansworth to enable the reopening of the playground.

During the next stage of work, it is necessary to implement a short-term closure of the bridge entrance from Riverside Drive in order to allow the council’s contractor to carry out the works safely. The bridge will be closed from Monday 20 April until no later than Friday 1 May 2026. Pedestrians can still access Rickmansworth Aquadrome and town centre during these works. The established diversion route will be in place with on-site signage.

Emma Sheridan, Three Rivers District Council’s Associate Director for Environment, said: “Our contractors, The School Renovation Company and Environet, are doing an extremely professional job with the removal of the non-native invasive species of weeds at the play area and are keeping within schedule. Unfortunately, to maintain the pace of work we do need to bring in a temporary access closure to the bridge to ensure full remediation works at the site.

“We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause. We are striving to keep this to a minimum and will reopen access as soon as possible. We will be putting up signage warning people of the works taking place as well as diversion signs in advance. I thank everyone for their continued patience and understanding."
