Two leisure centres in Three Rivers have been given ‘very good’ scores in a rigorous assessment.

South Oxhey Leisure Centre and William Penn Leisure Centres were given the scores in Quest Plus Assessments, which is a continuous improvement tool for leisure facilities and sports development teams.

Quest assessors identified numerous strengths at both centres - which are managed by Everyone Active in partnership with Three Rivers District Council - during mystery visits and formal assessments.

At William Penn Leisure Centre, evaluators highlighted its exceptional customer journey and satisfaction, along with its environmental management practices. The centre's diverse range of activities, including disabled facilities and comprehensive children's programmes, received special mention.

Quest also commended William Penn's energy-efficient LED lighting upgrades and health programmes, such as GP exercise referrals and cardiac rehabilitation.

South Oxhey Leisure Centre similarly impressed Quest assessors with its highly engaging and experienced staff team, many boasting 20 to 30 years of service.

The evaluation praised the centre's successful GP referral programme and "spectacular" group cycle studio. Quest recognised South Oxhey's commitment to environmental responsibility, noting extensive recycling facilities and recent sustainability upgrades like LED pool lighting.

The assessment also highlighted the centre's strong personal training programme and effective use of social media for community engagement.

Billy Johnson, General Manager at both South Oxhey and William Penn Leisure Centres, said: "These 'very good' ratings are a testament to the unwavering dedication and hard work of our teams at both centres. We strive daily to provide great experiences for our community, focusing on health, wellbeing and sustainability.

“This recognition from Quest reinforces our commitment to continuous improvement and motivates us to set even higher standards in the future. We're grateful for the trust our community places in us and will continue to evolve our offerings to meet their diverse needs."

Cllr Chris Lloyd, Three Rivers District Council’s Lead Member for Leisure, said: “I am delighted that our wonderful local leisure centres have been recognised with these positive ratings. Keeping active and exercising, no matter what your challenges in life, could not be more important to improve and maintain good physical and mental health. I congratulate all involved in ensuring our leisure centres operate so successfully, providing such great facilities for our local communities.”
