Youngsters are making the most of a brand new play area which has been incorporated into a new affordable housing development in Abbotts Langley.

Thirty-four properties have been developed by leading housing and care provider Sanctuary Group to provide affordable homes in the district. The new play equipment has been specially designed to give children a safe place to play close to their new homes and will now be maintained by Three Rivers District Council.

Opening the new play area, Chairman of Three Rivers District Council, Councillor Kemal Butt, said: “I’m honoured and delighted to open this fantastic new play area that I am sure will be extremely well used by young people in Abbots Langley.”

Chris Cole, Head of Development for Sanctuary, said: “We have worked hard to make sure this new development has plenty of character by keeping the mature trees which existed on the site and installing the play area for local children to enjoy.

“The homes also benefit from solar panels, making them energy efficient and more cost effective to maintain.”

The development, Gade View Gardens, was part funded by the Government’s Homes and Communities Agency.
