Equipment which can be reused will be professionally refurbished; some will be given to NCH, the children's charity, and some will be sold at low cost to UK-based organisations which cannot afford to buy new computers. Items which cannot be reused will be dismantled and the materials recycled.
Organised by the recycling teams at Watford and Three Rivers, together with Hewlett Packard (HP) and Herts WasteAware partnership, the event was a huge success.
Similar events are being held on 2 and 3 February in the Woodside car park on Walsworth Road in Hitchin from 11am until 2pm, and on 9 and 10 February in Hartham Common car park in Hertford from 10am until 3pm.
Herts County Council operates three Household Waste Recycling Centres in Watford and Three Rivers, open all year round – one on Wiggenhall Road in West Watford, one on the A405 St. Albans Road, near Garston, and the newly re-opened site on Riverside Drive, Rickmansworth.
