Major fair seeks to boost local volunteer numbers across the district
The wide variety of volunteering opportunities across Three Rivers is set to be highlighted at a fair being held in the district next month.
The Three Rivers Volunteer Fair is hosted by Three Rivers District Council in partnership with Watford & Three Rivers Trust (W3RT). The event - being held in Abbots Langley - will showcase a varied range of local organisations looking for volunteers in Three Rivers with invitations to get involved.
The fair offers the opportunity to talk to some of the many groups that support and make a difference within the local community. Anyone who has just a few hours to fill and would like to help others, or is looking for a new challenge, is invited to head to the fair where there will be lots of opportunities for them to make a difference.
Cllr Sarah Nelmes, the Leader of Three Rivers District Council, said: “One of the most rewarding things in life can be giving your time to make a positive difference to others in your community. In recent years many voluntary groups have seen an unprecedented demand for their services – so if you are interested, please do come down to the fair and see what opportunities there may be for you to help.”
Amanda Williams, Deputy CEO at W3RT said: “Volunteering changed my life. I felt an empty gap when my children left home and the reward and joy I got from helping others helped me through a challenging time. Volunteering is commonly thought to improve your own wellbeing, whilst helping others can have a profound impact on their happiness and quality of life. Please do come along for a chat to explore the various options that you maybe interested in hearing more about.”
The event is free to attend and will take place on Saturday 2 December, from 10am to 2pm, at the Henderson Hub, Abbots Langley.
