With the 75th anniversary of VE Day on 8 May, Three Rivers District Council invites its communities to get involved from home and online this VE Day. All events planned to mark the day have had to be shelved due to the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown.

Sara Bedford, Leader of the Council, said: “I would like to thank residents for observing the Government’s advice and staying home. I would love to be at an event, commemorating VE Day and those whose lives were changed by war. I  sympathise with the feelings of fear and frustration felt by everyone. However, we can still pay our personal tributes to all those who fought for our freedom in the Second World War. I hope that everyone will feel able to mark this important anniversary in their own way.”

The Government has announced a revised programme that allows members of the public to remember: www.gov.uk/government/news/her-majesty-the-queen-to-send-a-message-to-the-nation-to-mark-75th-anniversary-of-ve-day .
