Independent reports compiled by Defra have shown that Three Rivers District Council is once again one of the best councils for recycling in the country. The figures for 2018/19 show a recycling rate of 63%, up from 62.4% from the previous year, making the council third best council in England.

Cllr Phil Williams, Lead Member for Environment, said: “I am delighted with the huge progress we continue to make. Working together with our residents is putting Three Rivers on a path to achieving even better results next year.

Let’s not get complacent, we can all do more. We want to carry on supporting our crews to provide the best service possible for our residents. I thank everyone from our residents to the staff and all others involved for making this happen.”

Cllr Sara Bedford, Leader of the Council, added: “I want to thank all residents for helping us achieve this impressive result, ensuring that waste is separated and placed in the correct bin.  We all need to continue to reduce waste wherever possible by not buying things we don’t need, and reducing and recycling what we no longer need.’’
