Three Rivers residents - your LNR needs you!

Emma Robinson12th November 2008

Our beautiful Local Nature Reserves (LNRs) can always benefit from a helping hand, and residents with an interest in the outdoors are encouraged to support their nearest reserve be becoming a Friend.

Batchworth LakeThe Friends of the Aquadrome group is a brand new group, set up to help look after the popular LNR based in the heart of Rickmansworth. Residents who are eager to help improve and conserve the Aquadrome are invited to come along and find out more at the group’s first meeting. The meeting will take place at 7.00pm on Thursday November 27, at the Council Offices in Rickmansworth.

Established Friends groups are also busy working hard at Croxley Common Moor LNR, The Withey Beds LNR, Oxhey Woods LNR, Chorleywood House Estate LNR and Carpenders Wood LNR.

Councillor Martin Trevett, Portfolio Holder for the Environment, says:

"Friends groups carry out vital voluntary work to help keep these special sites in top condition, such as wildflower planting, litter picking, scrub bashing and guided walks. Friends are also involved with the sites' Management Plans and are encouraged to take an active role in the sites' future by suggesting projects they would like to see carried out. All tools are provided and no experience is necessary – just bags of enthusiasm! Why not get in touch and find out what it's all about."
