Three Rivers District Council is supporting Seafarers UK's 'Fly the Red Ensign for Merchant Navy Day' campaign.

The Council is proud to support a day which honours the bravery of men and women from both World Wars through to today.

Dr Steven Halls said: “We are raising awareness by flying the Red Ensign today, Monday 3 September, to recognise all Merchant Navy seafarers, whether it be those we have lost through the ultimate sacrifice or those currently working hard to service the UK.”

Three Rivers is one of more than 700 councils across the UK that is hoisting a Red Ensign today, to help raise awareness of our island nation's ongoing dependence on Merchant Navy seafarers.
