On Sunday 17 November Three Rivers council staff and councillors joined the local community in South Oxhey to do a litter pick at Pond Wood.

The morning proved to be a useful opportunity for residents to give feedback on the woodland and how they would like it improved. Among the members of the community that took part in the litter pick was Mercedes who attends the Bushey and Oxhey Air Cadets based in South Oxhey, she joined-in as part of her volunteering for the Duke of Edinburgh award.

Over 20 bags of rubbish were collected, in addition to several cones, a washing line and a broken TV. All the equipment was provided by the Council’s Environmental Protection Department who also collected the rubbish on the following Monday. They took it all to the depot where it was sorted to ensure anything recyclable was recycled.

Julie, Three Rivers staff member, said: “It was great to have so many local people involved in the pick. We will be looking to do more picks in other woodlands in the New Year.”
